Nogent-le-Roi, ‘chef-lieu de canton’, one of the administrative centres of Eure-et-Loir, is situated in the heart of a valley, on the River Eure. Its location has marked its history: The French and the English took turns in governing Nogent.
Thanks to the River Eure that was navigable, it was very easy to reach Paris, which is only 50 miles away. The town which used to be a Royal Estate or belong to great families of Normandie, Anjou, or Poitou is nowadays the most northerly town in the ‘Région Centre’, one of the 26 administrative divisions of France in the south- west of Paris, that has replaced the ancient provinces of ‘Orléanais’, ‘Touraine’, ‘Berry’ and ‘Bourbonnais’.
This location in the ‘Region Centre’ is still a major asset nowadays.
